The Idea is to get to know them. Wash their dish and give it back to them but invite them in once you are settled and maybe give them a tour of your hour house. You know, stuff like and we plan on paint in this room “Golden aura” or something like that. They just want to let you know that they are friendly and that you are welcome. Being clear that you not only accept their welcome, but appreciate it is the best thing you can do.

Just tell her thank you in person and if you have some little gift you can give her on hand that seems right you could giive it—otherwise don’t worry. She could have ulterior motives too so don’t get overly friendly until you find out what these neighbors are really up to. I’ve had so many double-crossing neighbors and we have to be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
